Noreen’s Story

I was skateboarding near my house, and I turned my head back while skating and saw a car coming so I went closer to the edge of the road and hit a bump and got hit by the car.

I felt completely fine but after a week I was in misery. I couldn’t go outside, play in the band, go to school normally, do sports or theatre. I felt so alone because I wasn’t healing fast. It’s been almost two years and I’m still not healed completely. I had to go to physical therapy twice a week for 10 months.

I had to miss out on the fun teen years because of this illness that no one could see or understand. If you have a friend or family member who suffers from PCS please understand that this illness is no picnic. Be patient and understand that they need time. I am a completely different person after my accident, and I’m always scared I’ll never be the same again. The best advice I can give is; be patient and take time to rest. This illness does not define who you are.
